Inpatient Units

At MUSC Children's Hospital we are dedicated to providing the best possible care to our patients. Each inpatient unit is designed especially with children and their families in mind.

7A Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit
A 22-bed unit serving patients from ages two to eighteen years old with acute medical, post-surgical needs, trauma or burns. Phone: (843) 792-9423.

7B Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Speciality Unit
A 22-bed unit for patients two weeks to eighteen years old requiring diagnosis/treatment of oncology/hematology, renal/urologic abnormalities, endocrine dysfunction and cardiac defects. Phone: (843) 792-9691.

7C Pediatric Telemetry
A 10-bed step-down unit for pediatric cardiology/cardiothoracic surgery patients. This unit admits children from a few days old to adult for the diagnosis and management of congenital heart defects, dysrhythmia and post-surgery care. Phone: (843) 792-9280.

Same Day Unit
A 6-bed monitored unit that provides pre- and post-ECHO sedation and cardiac catheterization care. Phone: (843) 792-5064.

8D Child/Infant Care Unit
An 17-bed unit for patients under four years of age admitted for respiratory disorders and infectious diseases, as well as general surgical and neurosurgical diagnoses. Phone: (843) 792-9949

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNICU)
A 29-bed Level II and III facility for acutely ill newborns and infants including those with prematurity and congenital anomalies. This area also manages the following services: neonatal and pediatric Meducare (air and ground transport); neonatal, pediatric and adult ECMO; delivery room/stabalization & resuscitation; and pneumogram/home monitoring programs. Special Care Nursery (8SCN)
A 9-bed level II facility for neonates no longer requiring intensive care. Phone: (843) 792-3586.

Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU)
An 12-bed unit for pediatric patients experiencing a wide-variety of medical and surgical heart diseases. Phone: (843) 792-3891.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
A 11-bed unit providing care to acutely ill children between the ages of birth and 18 years with diagnoses ranging from trauma to respiratory distress. PICU visitation is 24 hours a day, seven days a week for parents and grandparents. Phone: (843) 792-2244.

General Clinical Research Unit
A 7-bed National Institute of Health (NIH) supported pediatric and adult research unit that also cares for non-research patients on an as needed basis, such as pediatric endocrine patients.

All units are supported by our child life program that provides psychological and developmental support to children and their families.
