Physician Liaison Program
Our physician liaisons provide a two-way communication link between MUSC Children's Hospital and
community physicians. Physician Liaison nurses meet with physicians and other healthcare providers
around the state to keep them up-to-date on new faculty, services and equipment available at within
our system.
As a service for many specialties, Physician Liaison staff prepare and distribute to referring
physicians brief, preliminary discharge reports that provide interim information to support
patient care while awaiting the final discharge summary.
Physician Liaison staff members also serve as personal contacts for physicians to address problems,
issues or concerns that need attention by the medical center. Information shared with the Physician
Liaison staff is highly valued and is used by MUSC in planning and evaluating services and programs.
MDialogue, the program's newsletter, is published several times a year to help facilitate
communication and to keep our physician abreast of current news at MUSC.
