Customers can donate to the MUSC Children’s Hospital’s Seewall project through WenCoast Restaurants, the parent company of the regional Wendy’s fast food chain. WenCoast has agreed to designate Seewall as the recipient of its countertop donations for November and December.

John M. Sanders, MUSC Children’s Hospital Administrator, and Ric Southers, vice president of operations for WenCoast Restaurants, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.

“We are so lucky to have Wendy’s as a partner in continuing our effort to introduce the exciting Seewall program at the MUSC Children’s Hospital. They are showing a commitment to our hospital and to the children. This holiday fund-raising event will bring the excitement of sea life to our patients at a difficult time. They are making a difference for our kids and families' lives,” said Sanders.

Seewall is an unprecedented combination of art and technology that offers pediatric patients an escape from the confinement of the hospital by means of illuminated seascapes, computer animation and plasma displays that project moving images of fish and sea-life, all of which are accompanied by a continuous musical score performed by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. It is located in the MUSC Children’s Hospital, and adheres to the concept of using visual and performing arts to aid in the healing process.

“What better cause to support than the health and well-being of a child. Wendy’s is very proud to partner with the MUSC Children’s Hospital through the Seewall project for a holiday fund-raising project,” Southers said. “Our goal is to create a long-term partnership between the two groups that will serve the community for years to come. As a brand and a local business, Wendy’s believes it is very important to be a part of the community, supporting those who support us. To that end, we hope you will join us in being part of this great cause.”

Seewall is a collaboration of the MUSC Children’s Hospital, the South Carolina Aquarium, and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, with local artists Olga Stamatiou, Rocco Zappia and Matthew Zappia.
