Annual reindeer run to benefit Children's Hospital

The Charitable Society of Charleston invites you to join in the Half-Moon Outfitters 16th Annual Reindeer Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Southend Brewery, 161 East Bay St. Kick off your holiday spirit with a dash through historic downtown Charleston.
There will be awards for all age groups and prizes for the most imaginative seasonal costumes. Participants are encouraged to wear the traditional red and green colors to help celebrate the season. The award for the top male and female finisher will receive $500.
A $25 pre-registration fee, postmarked prior to Nov. 20, for ages 13 and above, will help support pediatric research and programs at MUSC Children’s Hospital. pre-registration fee for children up to 12 years of age will be $20. A late fee will be imposed after Nov. 20 with an additional $5 charge.
Registration packet pickup will be held from 12 to 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at the MUSC Wellness Center. Late registration and packet pickup will be held from 7 to 8 a.m. Dec. 2 at 161 East Bay St.
Race fee includes a long-sleeved T-shirt, guaranteed for those who pre-register and while supplies last. There will also be a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for “Most Original Costume.” An additional $100 will be awarded to the first pair of antlers to cross the finish line.
Families, friends, clubs, corporations and organizations with 10 or more members may register as a team. Each member must register online. Team captain must register in advance by calling 345-6906.
Volunteers
If you’d like to participate but don’t want to run or walk, consider being a volunteer. Help is needed at packet pick-up, Dec. 1, and race day Dec. 2. If interested, contact the volunteer coordinator, Allison Carter, at (843) 209-2866 or e-mail acarter@kwcharleston.com.
