Golf classic benefits patient with brain tumor

On June 5, Lowcountry golf enthusiasts will have the perfect opportunity to show their stuff for a great cause. Knology's fifth annual Charity Golf Classic, benefiting MUSC Children's Hospital, will be held at Wescott Plantation. The past four tournaments have raised nearly $40,000 for the hospital to date, and organizers are hoping this year might be the most successful event yet.

Throughout the day, golfers will receive complimentary lunch, drinks, goodie bags, raffle prizes and a chance to bid on silent auction items. Golfers will have the opportunity to practice on the driving range prior to the start of the tournament.

The tournament will feature a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Luxury Cars of Charleston and lunch will be provided by East Bay Deli and dinner catered by Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ.

The proceeds from the silent auction to be held during the dinner reception will be donated specifically to the McCombs Family Fund, named after 12-month-old Logan McCombs, who is being treated at Children's Hospital for a brain tumor.

MUSC's Children's Hospital has been recognized as one of the finest facilities of its kind and continues its work due in no small part to supporters' generosity.
