The funds were raised by Alexander’s father, John, and a group of friends from On the Run who organized a 5K run in memory of Alexander to benefit the NNICU. T-shirts were printed for the run and designed from a name card NNICU nurse Emily Heavener, R.N., made for Alexander’s bed. It’s message set the theme, “Run for the Angels.” The group also presented Heavener with a medal depicting one of the angels. “Everything we do, no matter how insignificant we may think it is, does have an impact on others,” said NNICU nurse manager Katherine Chase. “Emily has left an impression in the hearts of this wonderful family.”
